The STEPS team at Engineers Ireland are still accepting applications for ‘Fashioneering’ – an exciting and innovative new programme which combines fashion, design and engineering!
The programme runs at IT Tallaght for a full week from Monday, May 14th to Friday, May 18th.
This unique camp is focused on Fashioneering and uses an exciting blend of fashion, design, engineering, smart materials and coding to create functional clothing and wearables to solve some of the issues we will face in Dublin 2050.
Experts from a number of companies will make a presentation to students based on their current role and the future of their technology. They will then set a design challenge for the students to work on.
The students will apply the principles of design thinking to come up with innovative ideas, which we will then prototype and refine.
Designers will be here throughout the week to mentor the students.
There will be an opportunity for a research visit.
The experts will attend a showcase of the designs on Friday.
Cost to attend:EUR75
(NOTE: Fee is waived for applicants from DEIS schools.)
Application criteria: Students should have an interest in design, creativity, invention, the future of fashion and technology, and social innovation.
The successful applicants will be chosen through a combination of factors, including Junior Cert results and reasons for wanting to participate in the programme.
Interested students can apply on the STEPS website via the application form:https://www.steps.ie/Students/Engineering-Your-Future/EYF-Fashioneering.aspx
