Policy on Bullying

Firhouse Community College seeks to create an environment in which students and staff value each other and treat each other with respect.  We wish to provide a safe place in which everyone can work and learn.  We reject bullying in any form.

Bullying includes:

  • Verbal abuse;
  • Racist comments;
  • Physical abuse;
  • Misuse of mobile phones/social network sites;
  • Intimidation;
  • Extortion;
  • Isolation of people;
  • Damage to property.

As a school community we view any type of bullying very seriously.  School policy aims to promote fair treatment for all.  Students are encouraged to speak to any member of staff if they feel worried in any way about bullying behaviour.  All reports of incidents will be followed up.

The College promotes anti-bullying through education programmes, school posters, Students’ Council, Parents’ Council and the Students’ Journal. The school’s Anti Bullying Policy has been updated and approved by the Board of Management earlier this year.

Firhouse Community College is an anti-bullying school.
